The New BBC Tax?

The number of BBC licence fee payers went down by over 800,000 in the last two years. This is causing financial problems for the BBC. Whilst we at CUT may be happy about that, given the damage the Corporation has done to the fabric of society, it has also generated calls from within the BBC for a new form of household tax to fund it. They are now asking the Government to change the law and make all those who watch streaming services like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime pay the licence fee, which will go solely to the BBC. Therefore, they want us to pay for their failure; if the household tax were to come about, then in no other form of media or corporation collapse would so be rewarded.

At the moment, one only needs to pay the BBC tax if one watches anything live, or records anything live and replays it. One does not need to pay the licence fee if one watches on-demand videos and programmes, such as a pre-recorded programme or film on ITV, Netflix, or videos on YouTube, and this is what they want to change. At the moment, 1 in 8 households do not pay a licence fee, about 3.6 million households. The BBC lost 300,000 in the year up to 15^th July 2025 and a whopping further 540,000 in the year up to the 14^th July 2026.

The demonic portal

The demonic portal that many claim the TV to be is not neutral; it actively takes sides and, more often than not, portrays the sensational as the norm. It always takes the left-of-field stance in all things; the BBC is DEI writ large. Those who work at the BBC have core values that are the opposite of Christian values. They are pro-abortion, pro-homosexual activity, pro-transgender, very lenient on immigration in all its forms, politically they lean to the left, and Labour would like to keep it that way.

For those who believe that paying the licence fee goes against their conscience, there will be no way out. There is talk of a household tax, but we already have a household tax in the Council Tax, so this would be an extra household tax, or that any form of watching internet content, even pre-recorded social media on YouTube or streaming sites like Netflix or Amazon Prime, could require a TV licence.

We suggest that you contact your MP and register your protest. We are in favour of abolishing the TV Licence fee altogether and making the BBC stand on its own two feet like all other channels.
