Hexed from Disney

Disney and the Occult

Disney's latest Occult promoting film

From the beginning of storytelling, children have been enthralled by ghost stories; it’s natural to get a thrill from this genre and tales of things that go bump in the night. Witches and magic have entertained youngsters around the hearth on dark, cold winter evenings from time immemorial, but they have always been portrayed as bad. However, in recent decades a plethora of new films, TV programmes, and books for children have explicitly promoted the occult and witchcraft. Go into any bookshop, and you will find books for children that teach them how to do spells and become a witch. In The Catholic Girl novel, there are specific references to the sale of these books, as one character in the book works in a bookshop and hides these books so they cannot be sold. This is a secondary storyline, but the author felt it is an important sub-plot.

Walt Disney Animation Studios have also been going down this route for quite a while now, and their latest animated film, Hexed, is a case in point. It is a very well-animated and funny story about a girl who discovers she has magical powers; it is funny and endearing – which makes it all the more dangerous. Many will say, oh, it's just like Harry Potter, just fun entertainment for kids, etc. However, many believe that this has all led to an increase in interest in the occult; does taking children to see a film like Hexed or Harry Potter lead children to buy books on how to do spells – no? Then why, in recent years are there so many children’s books on how to do magic and spells, make potions, etc., available? Far more than books that teach them the Christian faith.

There have of course always been witches in Disney movies; however, they have always been bad, for example, in Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty, and the cold-hearted stepmother, the Queen with her magic mirror in Snow White. Not so in Hexed; here we have the young schoolgirl witch as the protagonist, empowered by her ability to change the natural actions of virtually anything to her will, all done in a funny, colourful way.

We can only conclude that Disney is now fully under the influence of evil; its diversity angles has long been understood. These films will, I believe, if contemporary trends are followed, lead more children toward the occult, putting their immortal souls in danger. Therefore, it is imperative to keep Disney films, Disney TV, and their merchandise away from your children. Refuse visits to Disneyland if your children start to ask for them, and explain gently why they can’t go.
